I am using Director 6. My export file will not run and tells me I need at
least 3mb of Virtual Memory. I have much more than that. Is this an XP
compatibility error or me?

ANY help is appreciated.

Yes, Director 8.5.1 was the earliest version certified to work with WinXP.

One of my programs calls an application program in Director 6. I got
the same error as above. It seems to be related to the size of the
swapfile, possible in combination with the RAM size. My system has 512
MB RAM and I used 3 GB swap. Operating system is Win XP Home. When I
decreased to 1 GB swap (or below) the Director 6 program worked
flawlessly.

Is Tech Support listening? Can Macromedia provide an upgrade to the Director
Player 6.0 which the runtime users can use without having to go back to the
application developer? Duh! Adobe updates its players regularly.
I also have an application using Director 6. The application is a program to
display Mercedes auto manuals. It was very expensive and Mercedes won't help.
I have 1.5 GB of RAM. The only way to get the application to work is to turn
paging completely OFF. Strange, but functional.

Well, I highly doubt MM is going to invest the resources (money) into
updating a 5 year old player... And even if they did, how might it work? I'm
sure most of the apps still in use created with D6 are not installed, and
run off of CD-ROM. How would the updated player work then?
I think if Mercedes got enough requests to have their product updated they'd
do it. But evidently not enough people use that product for them to care...
sorry.
